5 QUICK QUESTIONS WITH PAULA
Paula's love and passion for events is obvious. She is always smiling and willing do whatever necessary to help and get the job done! We love having Paula on our team and here is a little more about her!
What initially drew you to the events industry + what’s your favorite part of event management?
I grew up in Boston and New Orleans with parents that loved to host and attend parties. They were always dressed to impress, serving festive drinks, yummy food with laughter, good friends, and great music. So basically, the apple does not fall far from the tree - my sisters and I all love to throw a great party. The best part of planning is when it all comes together, and you get to watch everyone enjoy themselves.
How did you get started in the event and hospitality industry?
I started working at an institutional investment firm in New Orleans about 25 years ago as an executive assistant and naturally became one of the event planners a few years in. We held a large oil and gas conference every year as well as meetings, dinners, Christmas parties, Halloween parties, etc.
Outside of work, I was always helping friends or hosting private parties. I just love to set a beautiful dining table with flowers and candles and then play the perfect music to get the party started!
What do you like to do when not planning Weddings and events?
I love Mardi Gras! I ride in the Krewe of Cleopatra every year. There are several parties during the year, so I am constantly flying to New Orleans to partake in the festivities. I also have two Siamese cats that I rescued years ago; one is named Glenn Close because she stalks everyone…it’s quite funny. I also love going out with friends and family for drinks and dinner.
What are your favorite types of events to plan?
I love a more intimate event - lively and beautiful cocktail or dinner party.
What is your number one piece of advice to couples planning Weddings and folks planning events?
Build a strong team of vendors that you trust and work well with!
